The Future of Mobility + AI
Cincinnati College of Desing, and Hyundai UX Studio
How will mobility and AI shape midwestern cities?
Mobility has long defined urban life in American cities—and it will continue to do so in new and unexpected ways. This interdisciplinary design challenge invited students to explore how mobility, infused with ubiquitous AI, might evolve over the next 25 years in response to global trends.
Focusing on the Midwest—an often overlooked region—we examined its unique challenges and opportunities, encouraging students to craft visionary scenarios for its future. Through a mix of storytelling and speculative design, participants brought their ideas to life in short fiction films, using diverse image-making techniques to prototype key moments in their mobility narratives.
This workshop was a collaboration between Hyundai America Technical Center (HATCI), UX Studio Irvine, MIT City Science, and the University of Cincinnati.
