In this intensive and immersive 5-day workshop, students dove into the underlying currents shaping Shanghai's future, guided by an awareness of both visible and invisible forces at play. The whispers of algorithms, the flow of heat waves, forgotten migrant communities, and the dreams lingering in the shadows—all these invisible vectors are captured, expressed, and imagined through a series of surreal, dreamlike video art, 3D models, and digital forms.

Using a variety of new media techniques such as reality capture, simulation, point cloud, animation, and generative AI, they created immersive interactive narratives exhibited in a public exhibition in downtown Shanghai.

As Shanghai undergoes transformations beyond our comprehension, we harness radical imagination and cutting-edge technology to discuss the changes in the city’s architectural, economic, and political landscapes. More importantly, we pose the question: where do we want to head towards?
